With all this bad weather we are having at the moment I thought you may find these tip's listed helpful.

1)    Keep an eye on how much time your dog spends outside in the snow. Also be very careful with puppies as they cannot regulate their

body temperatures. So with this in mind make sure their time in the snow is less than that of an adult dog.

2)    DO NOT allow your dog to eat the snow, as it can cause stomach ache and you never know what is underneath the snow.

3)    After taking your dog for a walk in the snow or even once the snow has melted, wash their paws, as salt and grit can cause irritation,

and anti-freeze/de-icer can be LETHAL to dogs if licked from their paws, bathe in water.

4)    Inspect your dogs paw's thorougly on a daily basis as salt from the roads and pavements can cause their pads to crack and bleed.

5)    Smaller sized dogs are affected by the cold more than larger breeds, so think about investing in a coat for your dog.

6)    If your dog gets little balls of ice  in their fur and/or paws use a warm flannel soaked in warm water or put them into a warm bath to

disperse them. then only if your dog allows you to, you can use a hair dryer on a low heat setting.
